Indoor vs. Outdoor LED Video Walls: A Southern Utah Planning Guide
An LED video wall can become the visual centerpiece of a great room, sports room, pool pavilion, hospitality venue, or commercial space—but only when the display and the construction around it are engineered together.
Start with Viewing Distance and Content
Pixel pitch describes the distance between LED pixels. A finer pitch supports closer viewing and greater detail, while larger pitches can be appropriate at longer distances. The right choice is not simply the smallest number available; it balances distance, wall size, content, brightness, performance expectations, and budget.
The content matters too. A wall used for cinema and close-up viewing has different requirements than a large outdoor sports display or a commercial wall viewed across a room. Custom aspect ratios and multi-view layouts should be planned before the final wall dimensions are approved.
Outdoor Video Walls Require a Different System
Southern Utah brings intense sun, heat, dust, wind, temperature swings, and occasional moisture. An outdoor wall needs appropriate environmental ratings, brightness, contrast, thermal management, corrosion resistance, weather protection, drainage, structural support, and a service strategy suited to the exact location.
Orientation and shade have a major effect on performance. A protected north-facing pavilion is a different application than a wall exposed to direct western sun. Site conditions should be measured and reviewed before product selection.

The Wall Behind the Wall Matters
LED cabinets depend on a flat, stable mounting plane. Framing, backing, tolerances, ventilation, access, and finish transitions must be coordinated with the architect, builder, electrician, and interior or landscape designer. Small structural inconsistencies can become visible across a large modular image.
Power distribution, video processing, source equipment, network connectivity, control, audio, and equipment cooling also need defined locations. Solving these details during design produces a cleaner installation and much easier long-term service.
Plan the Complete Experience
The best video wall is more than the display. Audio must scale with the image. Lighting and shades should protect contrast. A video processor may be needed for multiple games, cameras, presentations, or digital signage. Control should make full-screen and multi-view modes simple for homeowners, guests, or staff.
