Automated Window Coverings

Automated window coverings manage daylight, heat, glare, privacy, and strong desert sun without asking you to adjust every opening by hand. The right treatment is selected for each room, then integrated with keypads, schedules, lighting scenes, and whole-home control.

The Right Covering for Each Opening

Automated window coverings are not limited to one style. Roller shades offer the cleanest architectural profile and can disappear into recessed pockets. Dual shades place a sheer and a room-darkening fabric at the same window. Motorized drapery brings softness and fuller light control to large glass walls, while Roman shades add a tailored textile expression. Specialty treatments can address angled, oversized, skylight, and other challenging openings.

  • Roller shades for a minimal, architectural look
  • Dual shades for view-through and blackout control
  • Motorized drapery for softness and wide openings
  • Roman shades for a tailored decorative treatment
  • Specialty solutions for unusual window shapes and conditions

Fabric Determines the Experience

Open-weave solar fabrics soften glare and heat while preserving outward views. Privacy fabrics obscure the view through the window, and blackout materials provide the strongest room darkening for bedrooms and media spaces. Color, openness factor, exterior exposure, interior finish, and nighttime privacy all influence the right selection.

In the showroom, clients and designers can compare fabrics in real light before the final specification is made.

  • Solar and sheer fabrics
  • Privacy and translucent fabrics
  • Room-darkening and blackout materials
  • Coordinated colors, textures, and openness factors
  • Crestron and Lutron automated systems

Designed into the Architecture

The cleanest installations begin before framing and drywall. We coordinate recessed pockets, power, wiring, window conditions, fascia, stack requirements, fabric roll direction, and service access with the architect, builder, and interior designer.

For existing homes, exposed, fascia-mounted, battery-powered, and selective hardwired solutions can be specified to complement the window and room. Final measurements are taken after finish conditions are ready.

Comfort That Happens Automatically

Schedules and scenes can lower coverings on high-exposure windows during the hottest part of the day, welcome useful morning light, protect furnishings from direct sun, and provide evening privacy. Keypads, remotes, apps, sun tracking, lighting scenes, and climate integration make the system automatic when you want it and easy to adjust when you do not.

What types of automated window coverings are available?

Options include motorized roller shades, dual roller shades, motorized drapery, Roman shades, and specialty treatments for unusual openings. The best choice depends on the architecture, fabric goals, privacy, room-darkening needs, window size, and available pocket or stack space.

What is the difference between solar, privacy, and blackout fabric?

Solar fabrics reduce glare and heat while maintaining some outward view. Privacy fabrics obscure views through the window while allowing filtered light. Blackout materials provide the greatest room darkening and are commonly used in bedrooms and media rooms.

Do automated window coverings need power at every window?

Most hardwired systems require low-voltage or line-voltage power planned at each location. Battery options are available for selected retrofit applications.

When are final measurements taken?

After window, jamb, pocket, and finish conditions are complete enough to verify exact dimensions. Early plan measurements are used for design and budgeting only.
